Hidden away behind the British Library within meters of St Pancras and Kings Cross, Purchese Street is a prime example of Camden’s many peaceful residential streets surrounded by multiple shopping and transport facilities. The location is fabulous. St Pancras Station (Midland Rd entrance) is less than one minutes’ walk away. Beyond that, all the wonderful amenities recently added with the Kings Cross development offer an abundance of interesting bars and restaurants. Purchese is street is particularly special as it flanks another of Camden’s hidden gems, Purchese Street Open Space, a small wooded park with grassy areas, benches and winding paths. There are 68 open spaces like this in the borough yet this park is possibly the least known.
Apart from Phoenix Court and Monica Shaw Court, there’s very little housing in this street, so few homes make it on to the market. Unlike the neighbouring streets with period terraced houses the price per square meter is considerable cheaper and certainly not what you’d expect for such a central location.
