STREET INFO

One of a group of residential streets built which form Elm Village, each bearing names representing agricultural occupations, ie Reapers Close, Weavers Way, Crofters Way, Ploughmans Close etc.

Barker Drive was built during the 1980's and forms part of a housing development off St Pancras Way called Elm Village. Most people know it because Camden Garden Centre can be found as soon as you turn into the street. For the first ten years, it remained almost unknown to almost everyone except the residents and the occasion taxi driver who’d use it as a cut through to Camley Street. All these years later, and with Barker Drive now a no-through route, the traffic has completely disappeared and it has become a tranquil group of streets and more befitting of the name Elm Village, with far more greenery than many other parts of Camden Town
I've been selling flats and houses in this and the surrounding roads since they were built and now find that many of the residents will try to stay in these roads when trading up. Not just because it is a well-built modern complex which allows affordable living in central London, but also has become a much more desirable location since the redevelopment of Kings Cross and St Pancras

There are, roughly speaking, two types of flats to be found in this road. For most of the length, on just the southern side of the road, small apartments with private entrances, form a continuous terrace facing gardens and a children's playground. At the far end of Barker Drive, before it turns into Weavers Way there are four large four-storey blocks consisting of mainly two bedroom flats.
