The name Hillmarton derives from a place in Wiltshire, possibly connected with Henry Bunkell who developed this area in the 1800s after buying 13 acres of fields from Thomas Poyning (hence Poynings Road). Hillmarton Road is a busy one way street with northbound traffic travelling from Caledonian Road to Camden Road. Most of the buildings are large Victorian semi detached villas and three and four storey terraced houses; many of which have been converted into separate flats. It's a very broad leafy road with mainly lime trees with some rowan and London plane.
Most of these houses come with large gardens. In many cases, where a house has been converted into flats, the gardens are shared. Flats come in all shapes and sizes in this road. However, over the years, the numerous flats we have sold have tended to be on the large side.
Property prices are similar to Camden Road N7 and far more affordable than neighbouring roads such as Penn Road, Cardozo Road and Freegrove Road. The whole area is very unrecognised and under-rated. Hillmarton Road is far less busy than Camden Road and is very convenient for buses, the tube (Piccadilly Line) and major shops (Holloway Road).
